UPDATE: N/B I880 ONRAMP CLOSURE AND RETAINING WALL
DEMOLITION SCHEDULED WEDNESDAY THRU FRIDAY NIGHT

ALAMEDA COUNTY – The High Street/42nd Avenue northbound (n/b) onramp to Interstate 880 will be closed to allow crews to safely conduct nighttime demolition of the 42nd Avenue retaining wall along the High Street and 42nd Avenue onramp beginning Wednesday,  August 22 through Friday, August 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The work is part of the ongoing I-880 High Street Seismic Retrofit Project, in the City of Oakland.

DETOUR ROUTE: As an alternative route motorists traveling northbound along I-880 should take High Street/Oakport Street onramp to southbound I880, exit at 66th Avenue, make left to reach northbound onramp and re-enter northbound I-880. All other I-880 traffic proceeding northbound or southbound will not be affected.

Local residents should anticipate some noise, due to the nature of this construction event. Caltrans will make every effort to minimize noise and other potential disruptions during this time, while making safety our top priority. Caltrans will continue to inform the public of all scheduled and unscheduled construction events and closures.

A website is available to provide the public with the most current updates on this project. Updates on this and other Caltrans’ Alameda County projects will also be posted on Twitter at www.twitter.com/I880Corridor and at http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/projects_list.htm#alameda.

Motorists should are reminded to be alert for workers and "Slow for the Cone Zone”. Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to improve the highways.
