SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and its project partner the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) are continuing work on the Interstate-80/Interstate-680/Highway 12 Interchange Project in Fairfield.
For the week of October 14, crews will perform daytime pile-driving, column rebar installation, and erosion control installation near eastbound and westbound I-80 at the Green Valley Road exit. Material delivery and flagging operations will continue until the project is completed in late 2015.
In the meantime, motorists may encounter intermittent daytime alternating lane closures on the eastbound and westbound approaches to the Green Valley Road/I-80 overcrossing. Motorists should watch for flaggers and expect delays.
Construction will proceed as weather allows into November 2014, then increase again in spring 2015. During heavy construction, motorists should consider alternate routes.
Southbound Green Valley Rd/Lopes Rd (I-80 overcrossing)-Alternate route:
Motorists heading southbound on Green Valley Road/Lopes Road are advised to use eastbound Business Center Drive, to southbound Suisun Valley Road, then southbound Central Way, then eastbound Old Cordelia Road, then southbound Lopes Road.
I-80/I-680/Highway-12 Project Improvements:
A new Green Valley Road overcrossing will be constructed above I-80. The new overcrossing will have twice the number of lanes (4) as the existing overcrossing (2), along with a new on ramp to westbound I-80/Highway-12. The connector ramp from westbound I-80 to Highway-12 also will be widened from one lane to two lanes.
