SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of
Transportation (Caltrans) will remove an existing obsolete overhead sign on
eastbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield, just east of the eastbound Highway 12
exit.
To ensure
worker and public safety, a full overnight highway closure is scheduled on Tuesday,
October 29th at 12:01 a.m. until 4 a.m., on eastbound I-80 in
Fairfield, just east of the eastbound I-80 exit to eastbound Highway 12.
The old sign
needs to be replaced with new updated signs coinciding with the recent opening
of the new I-80 eastbound Cordelia Truck Scales and new I-80/Highway 12
interchange configuration.
Eastbound I-80 Detour in Fairfield:
During the
overnight highway closure, eastbound I-80 motorists will be detoured onto

left (northeast) onto Abernathy Road. Motorists can re-enter eastbound I-80
from Abernathy Road.
The
California Highway Patrol (CHP) and flaggers will help direct motorists.
Caltrans will also install changeable message signs. Motorists should allow for
extra travel time.
All work is
