SB-1 Funded Improvements Coming
I-80 in Vallejo Between Carquinez Bridge and Redwood Street
Pavement Rehabilitation Project
Starts Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:30 PM

SOLANO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will pave eastbound and westbound Interstate-80 (I-80) in Vallejo as part of a major pavement rehabilitation project.

The $5.8 million project is a Senate Bill (SB-1) funded project which enhances safety for motorists by paving all traffic lanes on eastbound and westbound I-80 between the Carquinez Bridge Toll Plaza and Redwood Street.

After the work is completed, motorists will benefit from a safer and smoother ride on I-80.

Work starts Saturday, September 22 and will be completed as early as December 2018. All work is weather permitting.

Toll Plaza Lanes #1-#7 Closed Overnight-Starts Saturday, September 22 at 11:30 PM

During this project’s first phase of work, crews will pave traffic lanes at the Carquinez Bridge Toll Plaza.

To ensure worker and public safety, toll lanes #1 through #7 will be CLOSED starting Saturday, September 22 at 11:30 PM until Sunday, September 23 at 8:00 AM.

Toll lanes #8 through #12 will remain OPEN and be available for motorists using FastTrack and cash to pay the bridge toll.


Toll Plaza Lanes #6-#12 Closed Overnight-Starts Sunday, September 23 at 11:00 PM
Starting Sunday, September 23, 2018 work will shift to the far right side of the I-80 Carquinez Bridge Toll Plaza. Toll lanes #6 through #12 will be CLOSED starting Sunday, September 23 at 11:00 PM until 5:00 AM on Monday, September 24. The temporary closure will include the toll lane for wide loads. Motorists with wide loads will not be permitted through the toll plaza during the overnight hours on September 23-24.
Toll lanes #1 through #5 will remain OPEN and be available for motorists using FastTrack and cash to pay the bridge toll.

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time through the construction zone.

CHP will assist with directing traffic.

Additional Paving Work on I-80 through Vallejo
After the paving work at the Carquinez Toll Plaza is completed, Caltrans will begin paving eastbound and westbound I-80 between the
State Route 29 (SR-29)/Sonoma Boulevard exit and Redwood Street.
Caltrans will make additional announcements once details for that work are determined.
