FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Striping and Signage Coming to SR 37/121 Intersection

Improvements Will Discourage Queue-Jumping

SONOMA COUNTY — Starting February 24, Caltrans will implement improvements to the intersection of State Highway 37 and 121 in Sonoma County. The intersection has experienced congestion caused in part by queue-jumping in the eastbound lanes of Highway 37. Caltrans will implement a series of improvements consisting of new signage and striping that will help improve travel time through the intersection. Among the improvements are:

• Improved lane striping that provides two lanes of mixed-flow traffic eastbound on SR-37.
• New signage that directs eastbound drivers approaching the intersection to use either lane for continuing on SR-37, or to use left turn pockets to turn onto SR-121.

The work is expected to last two nights, February 24 and 25. Motorists should drive with caution through the work zone. Traffic fines are doubled in construction zones.
