Night Closures to Begin for Roadway Rehabilitation Project

Berkeley, Alameda County – On Monday night, August 18, Caltrans will begin a roadway rehabilitation project on State Route 13/Ashby Avenue, between Interstate 80 and San Pablo Avenue.  Work includes roadway repairs, removing railroad tracks east of 9th Street, and paving and striping the roadway. Due to the traffic on Ashby Avenue, this work can only be completed at night.

Work Hours on State Route 13/Ashby Avenue
  • Lane Closures: Monday night, August 18 through Friday night, August 22, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Caltrans will close one lane in each direction from I-80 to San Pablo Avenue.
  • Full Closures: Monday night, August 18 and Tuesday night, August 19, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Caltrans will close Ashby Avenue between 9th Street and San Pablo Avenue.
  • Detour: motorists may take 7th Street to Heinz Avenue or Folger Avenue and continue to San Pablo Avenue.

Please drive cautiously through the construction zones, leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you, and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
