FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

U.S. 101 / State Route 116 Construction in Petaluma
Northbound U.S. 101 Traffic Shift Rescheduled for Monday Night, January 13

Petaluma, Sonoma County – Due to cold, foggy weather which prevented paving Friday night, Caltrans has rescheduled the northbound U.S. 101 traffic shift for Monday night, January 13.  Additional work at the northbound U.S. 101 off-ramp to State Route 116 is scheduled for Tuesday night, January 14.

Traffic Shift for Northbound U.S. 101
Monday night, January 13, Caltrans will shift traffic for northbound U.S. 101 at the State Route 116 interchange. Northbound traffic will to be shifted to the left across the median to the southbound bridge. There will be two northbound lanes and two southbound lanes sharing the same bridge. After passing over SR 116, northbound traffic will shift to the right and return to the original roadway. This traffic shift will remain in effect until late 2014 while the old northbound bridge over SR 116 is removed and replaced with a new bridge. Note: the northbound off-ramp to State Route 116 will be reconfigured on Tuesday night, January 14.  Drivers should alert for changed driving conditions if they are exiting to SR 116.

Northbound and southbound lanes will be separated by a concrete barrier, and the speed limit in the construction zone will reduced to 45 MPH. It is essential for the safety of motorists and construction workers that this speed limit is observed. This speed limit will be enforced by the California Highway Patrol.

  • One lane of northbound U.S. 101 will be closed Monday night, January 13, Tuesday night, January 14, and Wednesday night, January 15, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane will remain open during this work.

  • One lane of southbound U.S. 101 will be closed Monday night, January 13, and Tuesday night, January 14, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. One lane will remain open during this work.

  • The northbound U.S. 101 off-ramp to SR 116 will be closed Monday night, January 13, and Tuesday night, January 14, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detour: exit at Petaluma Boulevard South or at E. Washington Street.

  • The northbound U.S. 101 on-ramp from SR 116 will be closed Wednesday night, January 15, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
