U.S. 101 / State Route 116 Construction
in Petaluma
Lane Closures for April 5 – April 12
Petaluma, Sonoma County –Caltrans has scheduled nightly lane closures on northbound and
southbound U.S. 101 from just north of the Sonoma County line to the
Kentilworth Pedestrian Overcrossing in Petaluma. In addition, there will be
lane closures on eastbound and westbound State Route 116 at the U.S. 101
Interchange in Petaluma. Within the construction zone, at least one lane will
remain open in each direction on northbound and southbound U.S. 101, and on
eastbound and westbound SR 116.
U.S. 101 Closures, County Line to Kentilworth
Pedestrian Overcrossing
Northbound U.S. 101: Monday night through Thursday night, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.,
Friday night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Saturday night from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Southbound U.S. 101: Monday night through Thursday night, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.,
Friday night from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Saturday night from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
State Route 116 at the U.S. 101 Interchange
Eastbound SR 116: Monday night through Thursday night, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and
Friday and Saturday nights, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Westbound SR 116: Monday night through Thursday night, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.,
Friday and Saturday nights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
This work is weather dependent. If it is delayed due to weather conditions,
it will be rescheduled for a later time. Please
drive cautiously through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling
distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you. Please remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

ReplyDeleteYour poorly applied netting, used to deter Cliff Swallows under the Petaluma bridge, is failing miserably. I have documented and photographed 20 dead and dying federally and state protected Cliff Swallows trapped in the netting under the bridge.
I was approached by one of your staff, Abdul (?), yesterday who told me they are "thinking" about how to address the issue and he is aware the birds are dying as a result of the sloppy netting application. Thinking about the problem is not resolving it quickly enough.
You are in violation of the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act and CA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife code, section 3503 and 3503.5. You need to remove the netting before more birds die.
