FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Highway 1-Devil’s Slide
One-Way Traffic Controls Scheduled For Tonight

SAN MATEO COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct additional preventive maintenance on a portion of Highway 1/Cabrillo Highway near Devil’s Slide in San Mateo County due to this week’s rain storms.

The work is needed to prevent further erosion before the next rain storms arrive. This work is to continue the erosion prevention work crews completed on December 4th. Crews will be placing plastic sheets, wire-mesh, and anchors to temporarily cover the embankment slope just slightly south of last week’s work site.

One-Way Traffic Controls-December 17th Starting at 7 p.m.
To ensure worker and public safety, one-way traffic controls will be in effect on Highway 1 between Linda Mar Boulevard in Pacific and the North Portal bridge area of Devil’s Slide beginning tonight, Monday, December 17th at 7 p.m. and should be completed by approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18th.

During one-way traffic controls, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times with flaggers alternating northbound and southbound traffic. All work is weather permitting.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will help direct motorists. Caltrans will also install changeable message signs. Motorists should allow for extra travel time.

Additional project information is posted on the Caltrans’ Highway 1-Devil’s Slide webpage at: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/dslide/
