FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UPDATE: SR-13/ASHBY AVENUE STREET RESURFACING CONSTRUCTION FOR MONDAY, AUGUST 20, & TUESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2012

ALAMEDA COUNTY – Resurfacing construction from Hiller Drive to Claremont Avenue, along State Route (SR)-13/Ashby Avenue, will continue northbound from Claremont Avenue to Telegraph Avenue, Monday, Aug. 20, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Resurfacing activities will resume Tuesday, Aug. 21, southbound from Claremont Ave. to Hiller Drive, to avoid paving construction in front of Alta Bates Medical Center and construction work currently underway by PG&E.

Two-way traffic along the construction route will be permitted by way of one lane, which will be open and directed by construction “flaggers” designated to allow safe passage of travelers along the route.

Expect delays of up to 30 minutes or more. Posting of NO PARKING are displayed in areas where work is currently taking place. Message signs are placed near work zones to warn motorists of any expected or unanticipated delays along SR13/Ashby Avenue.

Click onto the SR-13/Ashby Avenue website at: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/13ashbyresurface/ for all updates regarding this project, including detour route information.

The Department of Transportation apologizes for any potential disruptions and inconveniences during this time, while making safety our top priority. Caltrans will inform the public of all scheduled and unscheduled construction events and closures.

Please allow for extra travel time for your travels through the construction zone, be alert for workers and "Slow for the Cone Zone”. Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to improve the highways.
